Evaluation of the screenplay "Delicious and Tragic" selected at Cannes (2019)

READING SUMMARY: Philippe / Jeanne

Délicieuse et dramatique is a choral film project in the same vein as Denys Arcand (for the academic world) which is frankly well-kept from start to finish and on which there is not much to say, it is a beautiful work!

Even if it is a somewhat "signposted" choral film route, between the unexpected crossings in moments when we do not expect it (the hospital), the evenings of great animated discussions, the dramas, the budding sapphic loves after a bereavement, the couples who separate and the more unexpected ones who are born, we have a real pleasure in walking there because we feel that we are in very good company, and even if "remaking the world" is almost an obligatory passage of the choral film, we feel that there interesting and inspired things will be said, and also funny and that we can trust the author (the extract of the dialogued continuity is convincing)

Each character is well worked, none is banal and conventional, the author would just tend to abuse sometimes the inspired and philosophical dialogue on which we feel he is more than comfortable (we think of Sylvie in the terminal phase) which could sometimes be a little plastered and artificial,.. sometimes to the point of a tirade!..(and especially in this very tragic situation!)

A few small remarks on the story:

page 1: she reproaches! Who are we talking about, we should specify Sylvie because we think of Solange!

page 2: they decided to discover a libertine club: yes but who came to this club: 2 heterosexual couples or Kristin and Solange alone?

page 4 (in the end): we should talk more about this attack, situate it a little, pose it as a principle of reality, other than an element of evening debate! the intellectuals caught up by reality!

page 5 final: is it really necessary for Monica to throw herself out the window! We don't want to! (it's a bit too much with Michel)

Thank you for reading this, hoping that these remarks will help you move forward in writing this beautiful project. WELL DONE!
